Roman Wilson Placed on IR by Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed Roman Wilson on the injured reserve list due to a finger injury. This setback occurred after a Week 5 victory over the Indianapolis Colts where Wilson was performing as a primary target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He’ll be sidelined for at least four weeks, marking the second significant loss for Pittsburgh’s receiving corps following Michael Pittman Jr.’s placement on IR due to a foot injury.

To fill the gap, the Steelers have promoted Brandon Smith and Brandon Johnson from the practice squad. Despite these challenges, Rodgers remains optimistic, noting the potential in the new additions. He expressed particular confidence in Johnson, highlighted by their close interaction last year, and Smith’s proven track record from when they were both in New York.

Amid these adjustments, the squad has also faced other injuries, with Ben Skowronek and tight end Pat Freiermuth among those affected. However, there was a positive update on DK Metcalf, who has been cleared to return following an illness.
